Hi, my name is [your name] and I'm a constituent of [your council member]. I'm calling because I want my council member to protect my and my neighbors' privacy and safety by banning ICE contractors and collaborators, ALPR cameras and facial surveillance technologies from Baltimore City contracts. As ICE has been terrorizing Baltimore City residents in an ethnic cleansing campaign, I do not want my tax dollars paying companies supporting and profiting from that terror. That includes surveillance providers who enable that terror as well as stalking and abuse by local law enforcement. Surveillance technologies, especially ones powered by AI like ALPR cameras and facial recognition tools, are constantly making mistakes and getting hacked, making all of us unsafe on multiple levels.
